It isn’t new for Pink to talk about and promote gender neutrality. The 38 year old pop superstar has been a vocal advocate of allowing people to think and live beyond gender-based stereotypes.
But in a recent interview with The People, the ‘What About Us’ singer also revealed that she’s raising her own kids in a gender-neutral, label-less environment, sharing her experience of her 11 year old daughter – Willow, who aspires to marry an African woman.
“We are a very label-less household,” the told the publication. “Last week Willow told me she is going to marry an African woman. I was like: ‘Great, can you teach me how to make African food? And she’s like: ‘Sure Mama, and we are going to live with you while our house is getting ready.’”
Speaking further on the subject, Pink said, ““I was in a school and the bathroom outside the kindergarten said: ‘Gender Neutral – anybody’, and it was a drawing of many different shapes.”
“I took a picture of it and I wrote: ‘Progress’. I thought that was awesome. I love that kids are having this conversation.”
Pink has two kids with her motorcyle racer hubby – Carey Hart. While her elder daughter Willow is 11 year old, the couple also has an 11-month-old son Jameson.
Speaking on her own identity, Pink said, “It’s so weird. I’m still a 12-year-old boy.”
But she did iterate that she’s “more mum than… anything else”
