Mars - is being aggressively bashed by a couple of online groups for basing his music-style on black culture/artists, suggesting that he's not "ethnically black" which makes his usage of black music - "cultural appropriation."
The half Puerto Rican half Filipino star has been receiving the online wrath of such groups - who have even questioned his recent Grammy wins on account of his ethnic background.
Catching up with the folks at TMZ, Stevie shared his thoughts on the accusations and remarks being made by people.
"Here’s the thing, God created music for all of us to enjoy," the 'Master Blaster' singer said. "So we cannot limit ourselves by people’s fears and insecurities."
Wonder further added:
"He’s a great talent, so all the other stuff is just bullsh*t. He was inspired by great musicians and great artists and songwriters. So it’s cool."
Preach Stevie!
What do you have to say about this whole "cultural appropriation" tag being thrown at Mars?
