Dionne Warwick Says, Beyonce Not An “Icon” Yet/Gets Slammed By Beyhive!

Legendary songstress Dionne Warwick, who’s gearing up for the release of her latest studio album, invited the wrath of the beyhive by stating that Beyonce is yet to achieve the ‘icon’ status.

The 78 year old diva, who has had a lasting career in the music biz starting from the 1950’s, was recently quoted saying that the ‘Single Ladies’ hitmaker has a long way to go before she could be given the ‘ICON’ status!

This did not go down well with Knowles’ super-assertive fan-base who apparently think of her as an icon and beyond, and who were quick to prove Warwick wrong.

Here is what Dionne stated in an interview with ESSENCE:

“I have an admiration for Beyoncé. Watching her grow has been quite refreshing. It’s wonderful to see how she’s been able to create what and who she wanted to be and who she is.”

“Now sustaining and become the icon [like] Gladys Knight, or Patti LaBelle, or Johnny Mathis, or Frank Sinatra, or Sammy Davis Jr.? I doubt that. I really do. I love her to death and can appreciate her talent. But that iconic status that I just mentioned before? Those names? It’s a long road.”
