Attempting to put a stop a certain section of critiques who’ve been very vocal about Halle Bailey’s recent casting in the role of Disney’s upcoming ‘Little Mermaid’ Live-action remake, the iconic character’s original voice actress, Jodi Benson has something to say on it now.
Coming out in support of Bailey playing the titular character, Benson put a stop to those naysayers, who apparently had a problem with a colored person playing the part which was previously portrayed as ‘white.’

Here is what she was quoted as saying by comicbook.com:
“The most important thing is to tell the story. As a family, we have raised our children, and for ourselves, that we don’t see anything that’s different on the outside.”
She further added:
“I think that the spirit of a character is what really matters. What you bring to the table in a character as far as their heart, and their spirit, is what really counts.”
