Whitney Houston’s Old-Time Friend Robyn Crawford Talks Their Romantic Relationship, “We Wanted To Be Together”

For several years she has kept her silence, despite her name being popped-up by not only those trying to understand the story of one of the biggest Pop stars in the world, but also her own family members.

Robyn Crawford – long referred to as the late Whitney Houston’s secret lover, is finally speaking like never before.

First time opening up about the nature of their relationship, after nearly 3 decades of silence, Crawford has penned-down a powerful new book entitled, ‘A Song For You: My Life With Whitney Houston’, dedicated to her old-time, cherished friend.

Ahead of the much-anticipated memoir’s release, excerpts from the book have been shared on media outlets giving a brief glimpse into the physicality of the relationship between the two women.

And it was indeed a romantic one.

Crawford writes how the two got involved when Whitney had not even kick-started her career in showbiz and was only 17 years of age. From that point through the early 80’s, the two remained romantically and physically involved, following which Whitney later backed-down and put a stop to the physical nature of their bond.

Crawford recalls how Houston was scared of people getting to know about it and perhaps using it against them.

“She said we shouldn’t be physical anymore,” Robyn write in her book. “She said if people find out about us, they would use this against us….and back in the ’80’s that’s how it felt.”

Although Robyn found “comfort in her silence”, the two remained friends for nearly two decades as Robyn continued to manage and ‘guard’ Whitney, until they grew apart due to the disapproval of Houston’s ex-husband, Bobby Brown.

Robyn also wrote about how Cissy Houston, Whitney’s mother, felt about their relationship.

“Whitney told me her mother said it wasn’t natural for two women to be that close…but we were that close”

“We wanted to be together…and that meant just us”

She further states:

“We never talked about labels, like lesbian or gay. We just lived our lives and I hoped it could go on that way forever”

Imagine how different the tale would have been had Houston been allowed to stay with her long-time confidante since the beginning, instead of getting into 14 years of an abusive marriage.

May be, she might still be with us.

Who’s to say…
