Roberta Flack To Receive Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award

Legendary soul vocalist Roberta Flack will be honored at the upcoming Grammy awards ceremony.

The ‘Killing Me Softly’ songstress will be given a lifetime achievement award by the recording academy’s annual night of celebration.

The event for the tribute will be held separately at Pasadena on the 18th of April, 2020.

At the Special Merit Awards ceremony, the recording academy intends to honor “performers who have made outstanding contributions of artistic significance to the field of recording.”



Roberta Flack, 82, – who’s widely regarded as one of the most inspiration voices of soul, who has inspired a string of young performers of today and has given us timeless classics like ‘First Time Ever I Saw Your Face’ and ‘The Closer I Get To You’, certainly deserves all the tributes that flow in her direction.

 

Other honourees listed to receive the same award for a career filled with achievements, are – Stax Records legend Isaac Hayes, rock band Chicago, country singer John Prine, Public Enemy and gospel icon – Sister Rosetta Tharpe.
