“It must have been love but it’s over now”
Marie Fredriksson – the lead vocalist of Swedish pop rock and soft rock duo, has passed away.
The news was confirmed few hours ago by her manager. Fredriksson had been suffering from cancer and eventually succummed to the illness after battling for 17 years. She was 61.
A statement published by her family in a local newspaper read:
‘It is with great sadness that we have to announce that one of our biggest and most beloved artists is gone. ‘Marie Fredriksson passed away in the morning of December 9th due to complications from her illness.’

Bandmate Per Gessle also remembered the other half of the famous group and his long-time friend. “You were the most wonderful friend for over 40 years,” Gessle said. “Things will never be the same.”
