Beyonce Loses Golden Globe For ‘Best Original Song’ To Elton John!

Beyonce’s contribution to the soundtrack of Disney’s live-action remake of The Lion King, may not have fared that well on the charts – but it certainly inspired the critics enough to find favor in the awards circuit, leading to several nods in the year-end awards (more to come!).

But the singer and performer’s rousing new track, ‘Spirit’ – which was nominated for a Golden Globe award, competing against some other biggies in the game, has lost the trophy to Elton John’s ‘(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again’.

Elton’s track was released on the soundtrack of his first major big-screen biopic, Rocketman – which, by the way, also won the leading actor – Taron Egerton a Globe for his performance in the critically acclaimed flick.

‘Spirit’- was the leading original track, co-curated by Knowles for the 2019-released blockbuster and it was her only nomination this year at the Golden Globes in the ‘Best Original Song’ category. A win here may have strengthened the possibility of her taking home the big trophy at the end of this race – an Oscar.

It would be interesting to see how the song fares at other major award shows before getting to the big ‘O’.

Would you still be rooting for her in the Oscar race?

Have your say…
