Before Jennifer Hudson gets to put her chops on display in the upcoming authorised biopic on the late Queen of Soul – Aretha Franklin, Academy award nominated actress and singer Cynthia Erivo has already readied her own biography on the musical legend.
Set to be released in the form of an 8-part series on National Geographic, ‘Genius: Aretha’ – will focus on the musical highs of the songstress and her many career achievements
The network previously announced that the show will “explore Franklin’s musical genius and incomparable career — and the immeasurable impact and lasting influence she has had on music and culture around the world.”
Just like the movie, the series too, is authorised and sanctioned by the diva’s estate.
Going by the first trailer released moments ago, it does seem exciting to see the ‘Harriet’ actress stepping-in the shoes of the recently departed icon.
