Whitney Houston’s history-making recording of ‘I Will Always Love You’ has been immortalised by the National Recording Registry of Congress.
The best-selling single from the late legend’s 1992 released soundtrack album for The Bodyguard – her debut as a motion picture actress, is named among 25 other recordings that are going to be added to the national audio library this year.
Library member Carla Hayden listed this year’s inductees for their sheer contribution to the nation’s sound heritage.
“The National Recording Registry is the evolving playlist of the American soundscape. It reflects moments in history captured through the voices and sounds of the time,” Hayden said of this year’s honourees. “We received over 800 nominations this year for culturally, historically or aesthetically significant recordings to add to the registry.”
