Aretha Franklin is still the prime showstopper: Diva performs her classics at Tribeca

It wasn’t long ago when you saw the former US president, Barrack Obama wiping his tears as Franklin tore her ballad ‘Natural Woman’ with her soul as a tribute to songwriter ‘Carole King’, and here she is creating headlines again.

The unstoppable Queen Of Soul, became the highlight of the show being held at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall, as part of the ongoing ‘Tribeca Film Festival’

The occasion was to honor record producer Clive Davis who’s premiering his biography “Clive Davis: The Soundtrack Of Our Lives” at the festival, and the 75 year old icon, who has worked with Davis on several projects during her illustrious career, showed up to pay her respect.

Miss Franklin chose to perform her iconic Carole King-penned ballad, “Natural Woman’ along with the Grammy-winning ‘Freeway Of Love’, and tore the stage up with them.

Looking regal in a simple yet exquisite white gown, Franklin’s rousing performance was the highlight of the show that included performances from Barry Manilow, Earth, Wind & Fire and Jennifer Hudson among others.

“He’s not only a chieftain who sits in the executive office and takes care of all of the business, he takes care of his artists as well,” said Franklin during her tribute.

Aretha, who’s not in the best of health lately, can still blow it out of the park and we were happy to see her shining, still.

Long live the Queen of Soul.
