ABC renews ‘Once Upon A Time’ for its 7th season

‘Once Upon A Time’ will be renewed for it’s seventh season, as announced by the show’s network, despite the majority of cast taking exit from the show, with only Lana Parrilla, Robert Carlyle, and Colin O’Donoghue left to reprise their roles. The show’s seventh season will consist of 22 episodes.

‘Once Upon..’ is nearing the end of its sixth season on ABC, as it gears to release the final episode of the season on Sunday, May 14th.

It was earlier reported that the show’s 6th season would be concluding the main storyline, so the seventh season might feature a new plot altogether.

The executive producer of the show, Adam Horowitz, was previously quoted telling Entertainment Weekly, “We’ve been telling a story for six years now for these characters and now we’re trying to complete that story, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have other stories.”

The fairy-tale fantasy-drama revolves around characters from various popular fairy tales as they are transported to the “real World” and attempt to fight a powerful curse and the evil forces that come together to destroy the peace of Storybrooke, a sea-side town where the fictional characters now reside.

The news of the revival of the show comes in the wake of the recent announcement that Jennifer Morrison, who plays the role of Emma Swan, would make her final appearance on the season and would not be part of any other revival of the show, following which Rebecca Mader made an announcement of her exit from the show after the completion of the season. The show’s executive producers, later declared that Ginnifer Goodwin, Josh Dallas, Jared Gilmore and Emilie de Ravin would also not be reprising their roles on the new season and would make an exit by the end of the current season.

It is not clear as of now, who else besides Parrilla, Carlyle and Donoghue would be joining the cast to take the story forward in the upcoming season of the show.
