Britney Spears Honored at the Radio Disney Music Awards: Gets a Surprise Performance from Little Sister

It does feel like yesterday, Britney Spears filled our childhood with her hip-swinging melodies from her massively successful debut in 1999. But it has been 18 years, since the ‘Crazy’ hit-maker scorched the music scene and delivered hit after hit after hit. Pop music has come a long way since then, in terms of it’s overall sound.

And as we reminisced over the time we bought her first record on a cassette tape back in the day, the kid in us was overjoyed and happy to see Spears having her moment at the recently hosted Radio Disney Music awards where she was the very first recipient of the ‘Radio Disney Icon’ award.

The Pop princess was front and center the whole show, but particularly during the tribute put together to celebrate her iconic success in the world of Pop music.

The tribute included performances from Kelsea Ballerini who sang an acoustic version of ‘Oops! I Did It Again’ and Hailee Steinfeld who performed Spears’s chart-topper, ‘Circus.’ The two were later joined by Britney’s younger sister Jamie Lynn Spears who performed a short version of ‘Till The World Ends’ – as Britney stood up in surprise to clap and cheer for her.

Britney’s debut album, released in 1999, became the biggest selling debut album of all time with sales of over 30 million units. Britney has sold over 100 million records in her 20+ years in the industry and boasts of 4 #1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, with several other unforgettable hits like ‘Oops! I Did It Again’, ‘Gimme More’, ‘Sometimes’ and ‘Crazy’
