Mamma Mia is coming back with a sequel!

“Mamma Mia” is perhaps one of the most loved musicals of the last ten years, at least as far as the fans are concerned. The Meryl Streep lead musical romantic comedy based on the songs of Swedish pop group, ABBA, grossed a whopping $609 million at the worldwide box office on a budget of merely $52 million and featured Streep in one of the most fun-filled roles of her career.

The Phyllida Lloyd directed blockbuster is coming back with a sequel as announced by Universal studios, who in partnership with Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, produced the 2008 original.

Entitled, “Mamma Mia 2: Here We Go Again!”, the sequel would bring back the original cast from the first part with some additional characters and will feature a string of new ABBA songs as sung on a different narrative.

The movie will be directed by writer and director Ol Parker, known for The Best Exotic Margold Hotel and Now Is Good.

One sequel we’re most excited about.

‘Here We Go Again!’ is stated for a release on July 20, 2018.
