‘Searching For Neverland’ – the new biopic by ‘Lifetime’ will attempt to tell the story of the late and great King of Pop, Michael Jackson. The made-for-television movie will be based on the best-selling book by Michael Jackson’s former bodyguards, Bill Whitfield and Javon Beard entitled, ‘Remember The Time: Protecting Michael Jackson In His Final Days’.

For the past couple of years, Lifetime has been on a spree of releasing celebrity biopics – which may constantly fail to deliver the accurate facts or satisfy the critics, but still manage to grab the attention of the viewers. (Remember the loose-on-facts ‘biopic’ – ‘Whitney’ directed by Angela Bassett  which attempted to tell the tale of the late Whitney Houston?). Despite all the backlash, most of lifetime biopics still manage to garner huge ratings for the network.

‘Searching For Neverland’ is directed by Dianne Houston with Michael Jackson’s role being played by ‘Navi’ – who’s made brief appearances on a handful of movies before and regards himself as one the world’s top Michael Jackson impersonators.

Majority of the movie will focus on the last two years of MJ’s life as told through the eyes of Jackson’s bodyguards who wrote the book.

‘Searching for Neverland’ will premiere on 29 May on Lifetime.
