In an effort by Billboard, over 70 celebrities have come together to pen beautiful and heartfelt ‘love letters’ to the LGBT community expressing their gratitude and extending their support. With stars like Barbra Streisand, Kelly Clarkson, Selena Gomez, Liza Minnelli to name only a few – Billboard’s vast collection of celebrity letters were posted online on Thursday.
Looking back at her decades long association with the Gay community, Barbra Streisand wrote in her letter, “The first time I ever sang for a paying audience was at a gay club, The Lion, in Greenwich Village. I was 18 years old and had never been in a nightclub before. The gay community supported me from the start, and I will always be grateful.” She further spoke about marriage equality and raised a toast for everyone , “Marriage equality is the law and that deserves a toast… to all of us, because we’re all unique and beautiful in our own way and entitled to love and be loved by whomever we choose.”

Britney Spears gave love to her LGBTQ fans in her heartfelt piece as she wrote, “This is my letter of love to all my LGBTQ fans. Continuously throughout my career, you’ve always been so vocal about what a positive impact I’ve had on you—that I’ve instilled joy, hope and love in you at times when there was none. That my music is an inspiration. That my story gives you hope.”
Christina Aguilera was full of gratitude in lengthy piece thanking her LGBT fans for standing by her, “..all my LGBTQ fans that through thick and thin stand with me daily. My fighters, my heroes, the reason I love what I do,” she wrote.
Pop star Sia recalled a viral heart-wrenching online video posted some years ago by Jonah Mowry, a 13 year old teenager who told his story of being bullied in school as her song ‘Breathe Me’ played in the background. “He was detailing his internal landscape as a young gay male in the world, and how depressed he was,” Sia wrote in her letter for Billboard. Further adding “..seeing him struggle was an important moment for me as a “human with the privilege of a platform”. In that moment I decided to dedicate myself to the queer community in a more meaningful way”
