MTV announced its list of nominees for the 2017 Video Music Awards via a live video stream on Instagram on Tuesday.This year’s nominations are being led by rapper Kendrick Lamar who has received a staggering – nine nominations for the first single of his latest studio album, ‘Humble’. Lamar’s critically acclaimed album, ‘Damn’ was received certified double-platinum in the United States is being considered as one of the top contenders for the next Grammys.
Katy Perry comes second with a total of five nominations, tied with The Weeknd while Bruno Mars has received a total of 3 nods – which includes one for the newly introduced ‘Artist Of The Year’ category, which will see him compete head to head with other music stas like Lamar, Ed Sheeran, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd and Lorde.
