Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men have held the record for over 21 years since March 1996 when the inspirational track completed its astonishing feat of 16 consecutive weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100.
‘One Sweet Day’ was both a critical and commercial success, receiving 2 Grammy award nominations, including one for ‘Record Of The Year.’
Although, the worldwide-mania surrounding the song isn’t even close to being over yet, Carey still has a decent chance of maintaining her shared position at the top spot along with the Fonsi-Yankee duet, as Taylor Swift is expected to debut straight at #1 next week with the release of her much talked-about new single, “Look What You Made Me Do.”
The two songs now sit at the top with 16 cumulative weeks, while the second spot features 7 different acts – all tied with a run of 14 weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100.
