Amidst all the controversies surrounding NFL and the national anthem, RnB singer Jordin Sparks took her stand in her own subdued, but eloquent manner.
On Monday’s game between Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Cardinals, Sparks stepped on the stage to perform ‘The Star Spangled Banner’ – but instead of taking her knees down like most other protesters, the singer chose to write the text – ‘Prov 31: 8-9’ over her hand, making a reference to the following verse from the bible:
“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.”

Although, several NFL players have been protesting against police brutalities and racial discrimination by not standing during the national anthem for a while now, the protests have now come to limelight again after Donald Trump recently called out the players for ‘disrespecting’ the anthem, addressing them as ‘sons of bitches.’
Sparks is one of the many Hollywood celebs who have stood in solidarity with the players.
