Mariah Carey to receive tribute at VH1’s Hip-Hop Honors

Mariah Carey is set to be paid a homage at the upcoming VH1 Hip-Hop Honors.

Although, Carey’s catalog mostly boasts of Pop and RnB smash hits – the songstress has produced some vastly popular collaborations with rap artists – which, in a way, helped push Hip-Hop to the mainstream back in the 90’s and perhaps, in doing so, giving herself an edgier sound.

“You DEF know this ’90s game-changing diva, @MariahCarey!,” VH1 announced on Twitter. “We’re honoring this ICON Sept 18 at 9/8c!”

According to an article published on the network’s website, Carey will be honored as “a true trailblazer”, who “has earned acclaim in all facets of her career as an American singer, songwriter, record producer, and actress.”

Mariah has released a vast number of collaborations and remixes of her tracks, with several hip-hop artists over the years, including – Jay Z, Snoop Dogg, Diddy, Da Brat, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Busta Rhymes, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Jermaine Dupri among others.

VH1 Hip-Hop Honors will be held on September 18, 9 PM EST and will be hosted by actress Regina Hall.
