Whoopi Goldberg celebrates 25 years of ‘Sister Act’ with cast-reunion on The View

It has been 25 years, since the Whoopi Goldberg-led classic comedy ‘Sister Act’ hit the big screens worldwide back in 1992 and became one of the biggest comedies of the year, crossing $231 at the Box Office.

To commemorate its 25th anniversary, Whoopi hosted almost the entire cast of her Emile Ardolino directed flick on The View and staged the most perfect, joyous reunion that the fans could have expected.

The Oscar winning actress was joined by fellow cast members Kathy Najimy, Wendy Makkena, Sherri Izzard, Darlene Koldenhoven, Beth Fowler, Andrea Robinson and Prudence Holmes – marking the first time since the entire cast reunited since the filming of the movie’s sequel in 1993.

Whoopi led her nun-playing co-stars to a joyful rendition of “I Will Follow Him”, prior to which several members of the cast also shared their most fond memories during the filming of the movie.

Legendary actress, Maggie Smith couldn’t attend the event in person, but did leave a special message for the cast:

“I can’t believe this is happening and that it was 25 years ago,” she said. “Hello to all the nuns, I must be the oldest one left. Every single nun was wonderful. I have such fond memories of when we did those crazy, crazy, crazy films. And we laughed and laughed and laughed. I can’t believe it’s been 25 years. I send you lots of love.”

Probably one of the best episodes of The View we have seen recently. Thursday’s ‘Sister Act’ special, brought a big smile on everyone’s faces.

For all the people feeling nostalgic thinking about the movie – there’s another remake that is said to be in works. So, we might see our favorite nuns back in action again!
