Honoring the 1992-released LP, that broke Billboard records to become the top selling female album of all time, Christina Aguilera has stepped-in to perform a special-medley consisting of the iconic songs from the Grammy winning set.
Interestingly, Christina - who considers herself a Whitney fan and was inspired by Houston's sublime vocal capabilities as an aspiring artist, has previously sung a tribute to the diva during the 2001 BET Honors ceremony.
Accepting the honor, later the same night, Houston cited the 'Ain't No Other Man' singer as someone who she "truly enjoyed in today's music", acknowledging her performance of the Oscar-nominated classic, 'Run To You.'
That is one sentiment reiterated by the legendary songstress' Estate and management, who've also announced the release of 'I Wish You Love: More From The Bodyguard' on Nov 17 - an album consisting of never-heard-before live performances and studio takes capturing the inimitable gift of one of pop music's greatest voices.
Christina expressed her profound gratitude for being chosen to perform at the tribute in a statement.
Here is what she had to say:
"I am honored and humbled to be asked to participate in such a special tribute of a timeless soundtrack that has been a huge inspiration not only in my own personal life and career, but to countless aspiring singers -- touching music lovers worldwide and influencing the history of music itself."
"To be honoring the one and only, Whitney Houston, is a blessing and I am grateful to celebrate the spirit of her songs and legend that lives on. I feel eternally fortunate to have personally met her on and off the stage. My deep appreciation for her kindness to me while coming up in the business -- her graciousness, generosity, humanity and beauty -- lived up to everything I could have hoped for in meeting my idol and will forever be cherished in my memory of her."
It would be interesting to see which songs, Christina, who's previously been seen performing a number of Whitney Houston-classics, puts together for this tribute.
The 2017 American Music awards are scheduled to air Live on Nov 19 on ABC.
In other news - Houston's record-shattering lead single from the same album - 'I Will Always Love You' has crossed over 500 million views on YouTube.
Tributes or no tributes - here is one legacy that will continue to flourish for its sheer artistic impact and purity.
