It has been a long time coming, but Diana Ross will finally be given her dues by the American Music awards this year.

The 73 year old living legend, will be honored with a lifetime achievement award during this year’s ceremony to celebrate her tremendous influence and contribution to the world of music.

Ross, who fronted the classic motown vocal group, The Supremes, which produced a string of #1 hits and became the best selling girl group of all time, later went on to have an equally illustrious career as a solo performer.

She was also the recipient of the 2007 Kennedy Center Honors and was inducted on The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in 1988, as part of The Supremes.

“I have endless memories of all the years that I have appeared on the American Music Awards. It started with Dick Clark and the Caravan of Stars and American Bandstand. It was Dick Clark who said, ‘Music is the soundtrack of our lives.’ So true. I am so excited to be receiving this honorable award.”

The 2017 AMAs will broadcast live on Sunday, November 19th at 8PM, E.T. on ABC
