On Tuesday 31st October,  the devastating incident took place at lower Manhattan, when a motorist driving a pickup truck consciously ran over pedestrians walking on the bike path, hitting several people with his truck before crashing himself into a school bus.

The incident killed 8 people and left several others badly injured. Sources told NBC news, the driver screamed “Allah Hu Akbar” and “God is great” from the truck as he rammed down passersby. The officials cited it as a terrorist attack, which is also being termed as the biggest in NYC since Sep 11 2001.

The New York city mayor Bill de Blasio has called the attack a “cowardly act of terror”.

“We’re not going to let the terrorists ever win,” he said.
