Brave Mother Shields Her Baby From Glasses and Hail In the Midst of a Storm

Viral this week – is a story of a brave mother from Queensland, Australia, who protected her toddler while being caught in the midst of an intense hail storm.

Fiona Simpson was driving in Kingaroy to take her little one to her grandma’s place, when a deadly tornado hit. The hail coming through the storm was the size of tennis balls, as it struck Fiona’s car and broke through the windows.

It was then the mother quickly formed a shield around her baby’s fragile body and took all the blows herself.

“(The window) just blew out all in one go, just glass went everywhere in the car, so I just took off my seatbelt, climbed through the back and just laid on top of her, hoping to wait the storm out,” she was quoted in Ten Daily.

The blows led to some severe injuries on Fiona’s back as was seen when she approached medics for treatment, but her baby managed to escape with minimal injuries, thanks to her bravery and dedication as a mother.

“I couldn’t focus on the pain, all I could focus on was just laying over the top of her and protecting her from the hail, there wasn’t really time to worry about anything else,” she further stated.

The baby did get a head injury, but the duo are now safe at home and recovering from the bruises.

And to think the tornado was so intense and powerful it uprooted several trees and houses and led to power-cuts in several areas.

“Power-mom” of the month title certainly goes to this lady!
