Marvel’s Avenger’s Endgame has done what no other Hollywood movie has been able to do for the past 20 years – dethroning James Cameron from the top spot in the ‘all time box office list.’
The headlining finale to the much-adored MCU saga has finally been crowned the highest grossing movie of all time, beating down Cameron’s 2009 released, Avatar from the top spot.
Endgame has earned a whopping $2.789 billion at the world wide box office, surpassing the $2,788 billion collection of Avatar, by literally a margin.
The gap is expected to further widen a bit more, as Endgame is still getting a run across theaters worldwide.
It was no doubt a close call, as several trade pundits expected the movie to eventually fall short by a few millions, from earning the top title – after it slowed down following a staggering start at the box office.
But thanks to the devotion of Marvel fans, and a re-release featuring some uncut scenes – the Russo brothers now have the ‘highest grossing film in history’ to their name.
More reasons for Marvel fans to rejoice!
