Stevie Wonder Reveals He is in Need Of a Kidney Transplant

Stevie Wonder is facing some serious health crisis.

The musical legend has apparently not been doing well and after much speculation about his frail health, he has cleared the air about the same on social media – by announcing that he’s in-need of a kidney transplant and will soon be undergoing an operation for the same.

The 69 year old singer has decided to take a break from work and music as he prepares for the big operation in September. The singer has also found a donor for the same.

Here is what he was quoted as saying on stage at British Summer Time Hyde Park:

“I’m going to take a break. I’m going to have a kidney transplant in September. It’s all good. I’ve got a donor. It’s all good. I came here to give you my love. You ain’t go to hear no rumours about nothing, I’m telling you.”

As you may already know, after the extended “Superstition” outro, which closed his #BritishSummerTime set on Saturday, Stevie announced that he is soon to have a kidney transplant: “I’m going to be doing three shows then taking a break” said Wonder. “I’m having surgery. I’m going to have a kidney transplant at the end of September this year. I came here to show you my love and to thank you for yours. You ain’t gotta hear no rumours about us, I’m good, I have a donor and it’s all good.” assured the icon. Stevie’s announcement was greeted by supportive applause from the audience (myself included), who had already witnessed a triumphant set as Wonder performed classics including “Master Blaster (Jammin’)”, “Creepin'”, “Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I’m Yours)”, “Living For The City”, “I Wish”, “Sir Duke”, “You Are The Sunshine of My Life”, “Do I Do” and more and was supported by @lionelrichie. Wonder stopped repeatedly between tracks to thank fans for their support over the years. He did seem less ebullient than in the past and made his health announcement in a somber tone with a severe look on his face. But he was smiling and optimistic as he left the stage with the band playing the memorable conclusion of “Superstition”. It was an emotional end to a jubilant set that has been a masterclass in the art of songwriting and performance. The 65k party goers will definitely agree: Stevie Wonder lived up to his name. Everything will be alright, Stevie! Be strong once again. We love you forever. * #steviewonder #musicalgenius #eighthwonder #theharmonicaman #thesteviewondersongparty #britishsummertime
