When Patti LaBelle, Tina Turner, Chaka Khan, Gladys Knight and More Came Together For a Song!

We’re giving you a major throwback today to the time when Oprah Winfrey hosted the legend’s ball – an extended celebration over the coarse of 3 days – in order to honour the achievements of African American women in art, entertainment and civil rights.

We’re looking back specifically at the final day of the get-together, in which the big O hosted a Sunday gospel brunch on her own estate’s front lawn – with the likes of Tina Turner, Valarie Simpson, Mariah Carey, Dionne Warwick, Shirley Caesar, Chaka Khan, Patti LaBelle, Gladys Knight, Yolanda Adams, among several others in attendance.

The afternoon get-together cultivated into a magical moment when gospel singer BeBe Winans passed down the mic among these legendary voices of soul music – for an improvised version of the gospel standard – ‘Changed’ – and the rest was pretty iconic, to say the least.

As the ladies started belting out the tune, giving their individualistic flavor to it – the rest of the attendees watched them in awe, transfixed by what was going on.

Watch how the celebration manifested:

Only Oprah could have pulled something like this and in a way, we’re still counting on her to may be, bring them all together for another showdown like this.

What say you?
