Aladdin may have gone on to become one of the biggest box office success stories from Disney in the year 2019, but that did not necessarily promise a ringing cash-register for its lead actors.
Case in point – Mena Massoud, the actor who played the titular role of Aladdin, who hasn’t been seen or heard anywhere else since the release of his motion picture debut.
In a recent interview, Massoud revealed that he has in fact landed zero deals and auditions since starring in the mega-budget live-action remake of the classic.
Here’s what he was quoted as telling Daily Beast on the subject of his absence:
“I’m kind of tired of staying quiet about it. I want people to know that it’s not always dandelions and roses when you’re doing something like Aladdin.
[People think] ‘He must have made millions. He must be getting all these offers.’ It’s none of those things. I haven’t had a single audition since Aladdin came out.
The big truth is I haven’t really seen a big anything from [Aladdin].”
