Tekashi 6ix9ine may have tried his best to cooperate with the authorities in hopes of a lenient judgement in his favour – but he still has to face prison time, as it turns out.
The rapper has just been sentenced to two years in prison – in various charges relating to racketeering, illegal firearms possession and drug trafficking.
Here’s what Judge Engelmayer said during the ruling today:
It is the judgment of the court you are to serve a term of 24 months in prison, with five years of supervised release.
I impose 300 hours of community service when you get out, and a fine of $35,000. Mr Hernandez, the worst part is over. There is a great deal to be admired about you. You’re learned a hard lesson here. I wish you very very well. We are adjourned.
According to early reports, it is likely that the rapper’s time-served would be counted towards the overall term, leaving nearly 9 months of prison-time for him.
Hernandez has already been taken out of the courtroom by U.S. Marshals. For those asking, seems it will be the announced 24 months minus the 13 months already served: so, eleven months, into late 2020. Heading out to #Periscope; story soon https://t.co/zKzsVASZTd
