The View: Meghan McCain and Whoopi Goldberg Address ‘Girl, Stop Talking’ Moment, “We fight like we’re family”

Earlier this week, things got a bit heated across the table of The View panelists – as they discussed a topic that is certain to ignite different sorts of emotions in both conservatives and liberals – Donald Trump’s impeachment.

As Meghan McCain – who boasts of herself as the only one on the show with a ‘conservative viewpoint’ started talking over fellow co-host, Sunny Hostin – Whoopi Goldberg interrupted her with a ‘Girl, stop talking!’ remark before cutting to a commercial.

As the whole scene went viral and sparked debate about whether diverse opinions can really be handled when everyone is so strong-headed on the show, the ladies started off their latest episode by addressing the incident first, before proceeding any further.

Here’s what Whoopi said on the ‘clash’:

“We just got to do a little cleanup before we do anything. Things get heated on this show. If you watch this show, you know this has happened over the years. We’re really passionate, this is our jobs. We come in, we talk to each other, sometimes we are not as polite as we could be. That’s just the way it is. But you’re going to be dealing with the same thing when you sit around the table with your family. And you don’t agree or somebody says something and it goes off the rails.”

She further added:

“This is part of what we do…this is not an indication that women can’t sit around and talk. This is not an indication that we don’t know how to deal with each other on camera. This is happening on real time.”

Meghan too chimed-in and agreed with Whoopie as they both attempted to put the entire controversy to rest.

Here’s what McCain added to the explanation:

“Whoopi and I get along great. I love you very much. I’ve loved you for a long time. You were good friends with my dad. We fight like we’re family. It’s all good. We’re not tearing the set apart. Calm down. All of you. OK? It’s all good.”
