Pussycat Dolls reunion has mostly been met with positive news and if anyone had any doubt over how they were going to pull it off after all these years – the group’s performance at the recent airing of America’s Got Talent, should answer it all.
But if in case you were wondering why former member, Melody Thornton has refused to be a part of this reunion and comeback of sorts (or hasn’t been approached for it, for that matter), you’re definitely not the only one.
Melody had already pointed out how the group happened when she was a lot younger and didn’t have much space into it as a vocalist, especially when compared to the group’s obvious lead – Nicole Scherzinger.
In a number of her interviews, Thornton had clarified how she always considered herself more of a ‘singer’ than a ‘dancer’, but yet her voice didn’t get the kind of exposure as Nicole’s did.
These differences obviously resulted into a number of ‘internal clashes’ within the group, when they were still rocking out the charts, back in the day.
To revive your memory about how this was a talking point within the group back then, their infamous performance from 2006 American Music Awards is going viral yet again.
The performance features the PCD performing their hit track, ‘Buttons’ – without Thornton’s presence on stage. And while she remains out of sight for most of the performance, she candidly comes out on the stage – in what clearly appears as an ‘unplanned’ moment, ad-libing and riffing around the chorus.
The camera manages to capture the shock on Scherzinger’s face as Thorton goes all ‘Christina Aguielra’ on their faces.
