In a never-before-heard-of move, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have decided to step down from their duties as senior royals.
The decision was announced on their social media handles, in which they explained the move to step back from being senior members of the royal family.
The unprecedented move comes after the duo had expressed their concerns of the kind of media scrutiny they were put through, especially after their wedding and the birth of their child.
The royal couple has now decided to become finally independent and move out of Great Britain, to find home in… Canada.
Here is what their joint announcement read on social media:
“After many months of reflection and internal discussion, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution. We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.”
They further added:
“We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America … This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity.”
According to TMZ’s sources, the duo plans to move to Canada to start this new chapter in their lives.
Prince Harry had recently expressed his concern over the paparazzi disrupting the peace in their livelihood, which, to him, was reminiscent of how things had ended for his late mother – Princess Diana.
Meghan, too, had a hard time adjusting to the gigantic scales of royal life, especially during and after her pregnancy.
We are stunned with this sudden announcement.
