Report: Restaurateur and Lifestyle Guru B. Smith Dead at 70 After Fight With Alzheimer

Celebrated Restaurateur and lifestyle guru – B. Smith has passed away at the age of 70.

The seasoned businesswoman and model succumbed to her long-battle with Alzheimer’s disease, surrounded by those close to her, at her home in Long Island.

Smith’s spose of 28 years, Dan Gasby confirmed the news in a statement.

Here’s what he had to say:

“It is with great sadness that my daughter Dana and I announce the passing of my wife, Barbara Elaine Smith… Heaven is shining even brighter now that it is graced with B.’s dazzling and unforgettable smile.”

 

Smith started her career as a model in the 60’s, becoming the first black woman to be featured on the cover of Mademoiselle. She later opened three successful restaurants in Long Island, New York and Washington D.C. – popularized under her name.



She was also a renowned television personality, starting her own cooking and lifestyle show back in the late 90’s, entitled – ‘B. Smith and Style’
