Report: Homeless Man Doused with Fuel and Set on Fire in California

In a gut wrenching incident, a homeless man was doused with fuel and set on fire by a passerby in California’s Santa Ana.

CCTV footage released by the police department showed the 45 year old culprit set the man on fire after splashing fuel over him in an apparent unprovoked attack.

Santa Ana police department’s Corporal Anthony Bertagna was quoted telling the following to The Orange County Register on the incident:



“The victim was just sitting on the sidewalk in front of a business talking on the phone. [The suspect] rides up to him, goes in a circle then splashes him twice.”

45-year-old Adrian Alberto Rodriguez Herrera was later detained by the police and charged with arson and attempted murder, as the victim continued to be in critical condition, as per the last update.

Police are now identifying if there was any motive behind the attack.
