Clive Davis: “New Whitney Houston Film Will Be Musically Rich, Will Show More Than We Have Seen To Date”

Clive Davis is pretty optimistic about his forthcoming project, attempting to bring light to the life-story and legacy of one of the most celebrated female performers in history – the late and great Whitney Houston.

The legendary music mogul, who has often been credited as being the mentor of the ‘I Will Always Love You’ performer, has all the reasons to boast of the upcoming biopic – which serves as the first official, estate-approved movie, based on the Grammy-winning diva.

Written by Oscar nominated screen-writer, Anthony McCarten – who has previously brought glory to projects like – Bohemian Rhapsody and The Theory of Everything, the new movie – entitled, ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’, is already building up a promising hype.

In a recent interview with Variety, Davis promised that the movie was going to be a no-hold-barred take on the songstress’ life, exploring her character like it’s never been done before. But in spite of all that, it would be a rich celebration of her musical and vocal legacy, as well.

Here’s what he was quoted telling Variety:

“I have a mission here. I have a mission to make sure that for all time that the full picture of Whitney Houston is captured in a no-holds-barred film that is musically rich and shows her genius and more of her character than we have seen to date pin other projects].”

Clive also spoke highly of the script written by McCarten, stating that multiple studios showed their keen interest in bringing the same to life, before the deal was bagged by Sony.

“There was a fierce competition for the movie. I’m happy to say the reaction to the script was good. Almost every studio head called to tell me about their passion for the project. They know Whitney has been captured and the opportunity here is so special and unique.”

This certainly has us all geared up with high expectations, especially with McCarten and Davis on-board.

‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’ is stated for a release later in 2022.
