Katy Perry Expresses She’s Tired Of People Pitting Female Artists Against Each Other

Katy Perry has finally voiced her concerns over the way social media trolls have been functioning for a while now.

The ‘Roar’ singer, who’s “witnessing” her advent into the world of motherhood – along with beau – Orlando Bloom, has called out those people online – who are always trying to draw comparisons between female artists, whether it is their music or what they’re wearing.

Reading the release of her upcoming album ‘Smile’, the hitmaker appeared on the recent airing of Zane Lowe‘s Apple Music 1 show, and lay down her thoughts on how she feels about the comparisons and the culture of constant shade.

Here’s what she said:

“Somebody want to take my Twitter account and read comments? No you don’t, because it’s all about, who’s better than who? Who’s skinner than who? Who’s sold more number ones than who? Who’s doing better this year than who? Who made this much more? But it’s like, ‘Okay, well, what about just liking the music?”

Speaking on how, people need to be promoting female empowerment instead, Perry further added:

“I actually truly want every single female in the industry to feel supported and loved and feel like they can speak their truth and deliver their message, no matter how many of us women are in the industry. “We’re literally going through the exact same thing. There’s only five other people in the world that are going through this, and you’re in the same room. Can we please just have some fucking wine and talk about how hard this is?”

Couldn’t agree with her more!

The stan culture needs to be done away with, and we all need to realise that there’s room for all sorts of artists to live and grow together, without having to step-on each other.
