Tekashi 69 may have just rubbed the Barbz the wrong way.
The ‘GOOBA’ rapper, who’s promoting his recently released sophomore album, ‘Tattletales’, appeared for a an interview with Billboard magazine and was quizzed about recent hit songs, which were helped on the charts by other artists – one of whom happens to be Minaj.
When asked about his #1 collab with Minaj, ‘Trollz’, the rapper got defensive and stated – ‘That’s my record.’
But he wasn’t done there.
He went on to point out that Nicki has never quite had a solo #1 in her career.
It is to be noted that both of Minaj’s recent career-first #1’s saw her billed as a ‘featured artist’ and not the leading one.
‘I love Nicki; that’s my sister. I love her to death,’ Tekashi said. ‘[But], when has Nicki ever had a #1 to this date?’
Despite how that statement sounded at first, Tekashi clarified that it wasn’t meant to be a diss towards Nicki.
‘It’s not Nicki’s fault [she doesn’t have a solo #1]; it’s the industry’s fault because she is just like me. She’s sh*tting on everybody…,’ he said.
Wonder what Minaj would have to say about this…
