Opportunities Flooding-in: Teyana Taylor Aboard ‘Coming to America’ Sequel, ‘No One Can Put Me in a Box’

They say, life opens a thousand doors when it shuts one at your face, and that just might be the case for singer Teyana Taylor.

Taylor – who, a few weeks earlier, announced her early retirement from the world of music after feeling under-appreciated in the competitive word of showbiz, garnered so much attention and love from her peers and colleagues, that she’s already being roped-in for new projects.

Just when legendary songstress Dionne Warwick expressed that her choice to portray her in a biopic would be Tayana Taylor, the R&B singer has now also set foot in the sequel of Eddie Murphy’s ‘Coming 2 America.’

The comedy film directed by Craig Brewer, serving as the sequel to Murphy’s iconic blockbuster from the year 1988, will release digitally on March 5, 2021, with select theatrical release in a few places.

Teyana – who is now willing to explore opportunities from various spectrums, seems more open and daring to deal with whatever comes her way, thanks to all the positive support she’s received. “I’m at a place where no one can put me in a box,” she recently said. “They can’t tell me I can only do one thing. I do whatever I put my mind to and succeed at it.”

“Everybody’s very supportive and I think that’s all that matters. I think having a great support system plays a part in having peace. Support is the energy. [When] you have support, it just gives you that ammo to really want to be the greatest.” – she stated.

Apart from that, the ‘Concrete’ singer was also named creative director of the U.K-based retailer PrettyLittleThing, just days after her disheartening announcement to quit the industry.
