Sam Smith’s controversial Grammy performance has triggered major complaints from viewers. And it seems now the complaints aren’t just limited to television networks, and have in fact reached the streets.
The ‘Unholy’ singer was recently seen strolling down in New York City, when they were heckled and verbally attacked by an onlooking woman.
The disturbing video of the incident has been shared online, and it showcases – both Sam and the heckler in-question, as she indulges into a series of verbal attacks while screaming directly at them, as they walked closely.

The woman called the performer a ‘pedophile’ and stated that they belonged in ‘hell.’
“Leave the kids alone, you sick f*cker. Sam Smith is a pedophile. Grooming the kids, you sick motherf*cker, Sam Smith. You’re evil.”
She also states:
“You belong in hell! Sam Smith belongs in hell, you demonic twisted sick bastard.”
While Sam did not respond to the jarring assault, they did appear to film the woman while passing her by.
The incident comes in the wake of Sam’s performance of their hit song Unholy with Kim Petras at the recently held Grammy awards, which drew around 18 FCC complaints, as it was deemed ‘demonic’ by many viewers.
The performer has also been very vocal about their gender identity, non conforming to the binary. And their music and performances have often been reflective of the same.
As of now, there is no comment from Sam regarding the incident.
