The special entitled “The Wonderful World Of Disney: The Little Mermaid Live!,” will try to recreate the classic tunes of Alan Menken and Howard Ashman songs from the 1989 film, ‘The Little Mermaid.’
The list of actors who will be reviving the original characters has not been revealed yet. The network is aiming is merge the live and animated elements together to create the special feature being produced by Done + Dusted.
ABC isn’t the only network which is aiming to rehash a classic as a Live Musical – in fact the whole trend was reinstated by NBC back in the year 2013 with ‘The Sound Of Music Live!,’ – the network is now aiming to release another Live musical entitled “Jesus Christ Superstar” for Easter 2018.
1989 Walt Disney produced animated fantasy was nominated for three Academy awards two of which were for its iconic score and Best Song for ‘Under The Sea’
Will ABC be able to recreate the magic of the original classic?
