The extravagant new series will be a prequel to the 1966 original Star Trek, and will attempt to take the viewers 10 years behind the original story featuring the most diverse cast the iconic franchise has ever worked with.
The show’s announcement was made by CBS back in November 2015 marking the 50th anniversary celebration of the original series. It is the first Star Trek television series since Star Trek: Enterprise concluded in 2005.
The upcoming sci-fi adventure stars 32 year old actress Sonequa Martin-Green playing the role of the First Officer on a starship along with the crew of the USS Discovery as they venture out in the space in search of new civilazations.
The series will also star Terry Serpico, Maulik Panchol, James Frain, Dough Jones, Michelle Yeoh and Jason Isaacs – to name a few.

‘Star Trek: Discovery’ is set to premiere this fall in CBS, before moving to CBS All-Access on demand service.
