Whitney Houston breaks into the Top 40 albums of 2017. Only 4 other females make the list.

The official list of Top 40 UK albums of the year so far, is out – and the Queen of Pop Whitney Houston has broken-into it, besides only four other female artists.Counting the chart-positions for the weeks so far, the UK Top 40 albums included only five entries from female artists, which included British superstar Adele, Little Mix, Zara Larsson, Vera Lynn and Whitney Houston.

Whitney occupies her place at #40 on the charts, with her ‘Best Of’ compilation album from almost 10 years ago, entitled ‘The Ultimate Collection.’

The groundbreaking album, features some of the biggest hits from the legendary Pop/RnB diva – which has sold a total of 1.5 million copies in the UK alone, being certified 5x Platinum and still continues to sell like hotcakes in the country.

It is commendable for an artist who’s not even here to promote her catalog, to sell better than majority of the ‘current’ artists, for an album that was released a decade ago. Speaks volumes of her star-power and quality work.

Singer-songwriter Zara Larsson holds her spot at #33, for half-annual sales of her debut solo album, ‘So Good,’ while veteran songstress Vera Lynn was placed on #20 for her compilation album, ‘Vera Lynn 100’ – celebrating the 100th birthday of legend.
