“I want to do more intimate shows. Reinvent myself”: Madonna speaks on future tours

Pop Queen Madonna has been a staple on live shows for over three decades. The 59 year old superstar has consistently managed to sell out large arenas throughout her 10 major worldwide tours starting from 1985.

But despite being the most successful female live performer of all time in terms of gross turnouts and ticket sales, Madonna now wants to perform at a setting that allows her to experience the audience, up, close and personal.

The ‘Hung Up’ diva is now aiming to reinvent her tours in an attempt to have a more intimate experience with her fans.

Speaking to BBC, the superstar revealed her plans for her upcoming shows. “I’ve done so many shows – world tours, stadiums, sports arenas, you name it – that I feel like I have to reinvent that now too,” Madonna said. “I like doing intimate shows and being able to talk directly to the audience.”

Instead of traveling the word to perform for hundreds of thousands of her fans at a time, the 59 year old songstress aims to keep still at a place and have a more interactive and personal account with her fans.

“This is something I’m exploring right now: the idea of doing a show that doesn’t travel the world, but stays in one place and utilises not only humour and the music in a more intimate setting but other people’s music, as well, and other entertainment.”

Adding more on what she has conceptualized about the idea, the singer revealed:

“Kind of a revolving door of amazing, gifted, unique talent – dancers, musicians, singers, comedians, me, humour. I don’t know! Like, I’m trying to come up with all those ideas now. More audience participation and connecting to human beings – I feel I’m craving that more and more.”

An intimate setting like that would indeed be a treat to fans – who would get to experience the diva up and close, instead of struggling to get a clear glimpse from nose-bleed seats. Plus as Madge pushes 60, a tamed down version of shows a la Barbra Streisand, might still help her rake in a steady moolah. Although, it would definitely be a major cut-down from the 100’s of millions she makes on larger setups.
