Taylor Swift ascends to number 1 on Billboard Hot 100 with “Look What You Made Me Do”

Taylor Swift has made a grand entry into the Billboard Hot 100 charts cementing more milestones in her already coveted list.

The 27 year old Grammy winning singer’s latest offering, ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ – has leaped straight to #1 on the Hot 100 charts after debuting at #77 with first three days of its airplay.

Released as the lead single from her upcoming sixth studio album, ‘Reputation,’ the single has come out as the first solo #1 of the year by a female, with digital sales of 353,000 while receiving 84.4 million on-demand streams.

Swift’s claim to the top position has also finally dethroned ‘Despacito’ from the spot – after the Daddy Yanke and Luis Fonsi track remained on #1 for a whopping 16 consecutive weeks.

The biggest relief from Taylor’s rise to the top, probably comes to fans of Pop diva Mariah Carey, as the singer’s 20+ year old record of ‘most weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts’ was in jeopardy.

‘Despacito’ – now ties with Carey’s ‘One Sweet Day’ – but has failed to surpass the 1996 ballad, as of now.

Taylor Swift may not be the “brightest talent” out there – but the superstar definitely boasts of a fan following so strong, it always ensures she stays at the top with each of her releases. Further helped by the hype of controversies surrounding Katy Perry and Kanye West, ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ was bound to be a hit.

‘Reputation’ is Taylor’s much-anticipated next studio album which is stated for a release on November 10.
