Mary J. Blige – one of the most successful female Hip-Hop/Soul artists of all time – will get her dues at this year’s Billboard award ceremony.

The ‘Just Fine’ singer is set to be honored with an Icon Award during their annual Billboard Women in Music ceremony. Set to be held on November 30th, the ceremony will take lace at the Ray Dolby Ballroom in LA and pay tribute to Blige for her artistic and career achievements.

The event’s chief marketing officer Dana Miller, threw some light on the background of the annual celebration of the women in music:

“The Billboard Women in Music event was created to spotlight female trailblazers in the music industry,” Miller was reported telling in a Billboard article.”Whether entertaining sold-out crowds or signing the next big artist, the women we celebrate are powerful leaders and pioneers, creating inspirational legacies and opening doors.”

Previous honorees of Billboard’s Icon award include names like Neil Diamond, Stevie Wonder, Prince, Celine Dion and Cher.

An honor well-deserved by the original Queen of Hip-Hop/RnB/Soul.
