Author and political analyst Dr. Boyce Watkins has his two cents to give on Pop star Lizzo’s growing popularity.
The singer – who’s been promoting imagery of body-positivity and the idea of embracing beauties in all shapes and sizes, is often lauded for projecting confidence in everything she does.
That however, is not going down well with Watkins, who insists that her popularity is only an indication of America’s growing problem with obesity, which he deems an – epidemic.
Here’s what he stated on his recent Tweet:
“#Lizzo popular is because there is an obesity epidemic in America,” he wrote. “Rather than encouraging people to do better, we are simply lying to them and telling them that they are just fine the way they are. Unfortunately, many of these people are dying from diabetes and heart disease.”
Not only that, he even called her the ‘fat’ version of Cardi B.
Yikes!

And without any wait, the ‘Truth Hurts’ singer and performer took notice of the commentary and clapped back at Watkins.
Here’s what she said:
I’m popular because I write good songs and I’m talented and perform high energy hour and a half shows filled with love.
The only person who needs to do better is you.
Keep my name out ya mouth & look in the mirror before you come for me.
Here’s the attention you ordered 😏 https://t.co/zXnOv4f9Dr
