Joaquin Phoenix seems to have his ‘Best Actor’ Oscar win, settled – since he’s been winning in the category in every single award show that has taken place so far.
But if we look book, it was pretty much certain that he was going to, when it was announced that he was going to star in a movie thoroughly based on The Joker.
During his recent speech, while accepting the ‘Best Actor’ award at Critics’ Choice, the actor got all emotional, reflecting back at a certain time when he received support from his mother, activist – Arlyn Phoenix.
Here’s what he said during his speech:
“I need to thank my mom. Mom, you’ve always been my greatest inspiration. Even when self-pity led me astray, you didn’t give up on me… I appreciate your support.”
While speaking about environmental activism in the midst, he concluded the speech saying:
“sometimes we have to take that responsibility on ourselves and make changes and sacrifices in our own lives.”
