Taylor Swift will receive an honorary award at the upcoming GLAAD awards ceremony for her influence on the LGBT community.
The singer and songwriter will be honored with the GLAAD Vanguard award at the 31st annual ceremony, for being an outspoken advocate for LGBTQ rights.
As you may already know, the award is given each year to a prominent figure, honoring and acknowledging “allies who have made a significant difference in promoting acceptance of LGBTQ people.”
Here is what – Sarah Kate Ellis, the CEO and President of the organization, was quoted as telling about Swift while announcing her name as this year’s recipient of the prestigious honor:
“From boldly standing up against anti-LGBTQ elected officials to shining attention on the urgent need to protect LGBTQ people from discrimination through the Equality Act, Taylor Swift proudly uses her unique ability to influence pop culture to promote LGBTQ acceptance.”
