Nicki Minaj doesn’t quite like it, if you’re a barb and you’re hiding it from the world. The Queen of rap would rather have you profess your undying love and devotion for her, publicly.
So was the case with Lil Nas.
The ‘Old Town Road’ rapper, who turned into an unexpected LGBTQ icon in 2019, after coming out of the close – following the success of his first musical project, was also quite ‘in the closet’ as a Nicki Minaj fan – before he proclaimed her as the ‘queen of rap’ a few months ago.
When a fellow Barb recently confronted him about not speaking over his love for Nicki before, Nas simply replied back stating that he didn’t want people to know that he was gay.
i didn’t want people to know i was gay tbh

When asked, why would he think being a Nicki Minaj fan would make people label him ‘gay’, he stated:
it don’t but people will assume if you had an entire fan page dedicated to nicki u are gay. and the rap/music industry ain’t exactly built or accepting of gay men yet.

His tweet was later acknowledged by Mrs. Petty AKA Minaj, who did point out that she was a bit hurt initially when he didn’t speak out loud about his love for her music, but stated that she understood and appreciates him coming out and speaking his truth.
Here’s what she wrote:
It was a bit of a sting when you denied being a barb, but I understand. 🎀 Congratulations on building up your confidence to speak your truth. @LilNasX

So now will we have that long awaited duet between these two?
Have your say…
